The Amazing Pace

Posted by jacobroecker on 1 May 2009 under Projects | Read the First Comment

Mymy_vote life has had an absolutely amazing pace recently.  It has gotten so busy that I am left to wonder how to balance between my projects and my family.    It has been no small task.  Even this blog which is visited by some random 15 people a day has been tossed to the side for a time.  There is more important things afoot.

912Candidates.org is alive and growing, but it is also taking quite a bit of time to do so.  I have been swallowed by it, and am only now coming to find some balance again in life.  The project has turned from something written on the back of scrap paper at Matt & Haley Hargrave’s house to something that is branching off to the various states.  Now, North Carolina and Washington State each have their own folks working on finding 9/12 Candidates.  For Florida and Texas, I’m currently looking for folks to recruit in that state and may be in the final stages of finding someone for each state.  We’ll let time tell.

So yeah.  I’ve gone from chicken scratching an idea, to leading a national movement.  It’s not a big one, but it looks like it will be.  So, if I’ve neglected my faithful readers, I’d like to apologize.  It’s not that you’re not important, it’s just that I’ve discovered that “We the People” are the only solution to our government, and right now our government needs us to be a part of the solution.  I’ll ask you to participate.

The last time this happened in our nation’s history, citizens went to the Lexington green with their muskets.  Luckily today we don’t have to grab our rifles and defend ourselves.  But we are at a stage where our generation MUST stand up, gather, organize, and influence our political processes to re-establish natural law and freedom.

Eliza owes $33,000 to the government.  Go get a $33,000 loan.  Don’t pay on it for 11 years and tell me how much money you owe at the end of it.  It’ll be a lot more than $33K.   Freedom includes financial freedom.  I may incur my own debt, but what right does my government have to force a debt upon me or my children.

We shouldn’t be scared that this is happening though.  Every generation has to have some need to stand up.  This is ours.  Let’s get working.

Glenn Beck as Captain Moroni

Glenn Beck as Captain Moroni

Ok, so this is a bit more than “slightly over the top,” but I think there are some appropriate parallels.

  • Glenn Beck isn’t a prophet, neither was Moroni–It was only after he had been dead for hundreds of years that Mormon said satan wouldn’t have any power if more people were like Moroni.
  • Both got really peeved at what citizens were doing to the government (yeah, that whole title of liberty thing)
  • Both issued dichotomous rhetoric (for us or against us)
  • Both placed their hope in their fellow citizens, and their freedom

This whole situation with our government is possibly one of the coolest things ever.  More people are learning about how this republic works than at any other time in recent history.   It’s doing a lot of good.

Dad gave me a book a while ago called “Empires of Trust.”  It’s a good luck at the commonalitites between the Roman Empire and the American Empire.  It’s very interesting and discusses how durable this country’s government really is.  Part of that durability are the freedoms that allow citizen to organize their “tax day tea parties,”  speak their mind publicly, and demand their officials to represent them, not just their agenda.

Yeah this country will survive its current leadership, and because of its current leadership it will probably thrive.  Glenn Beck and those who listen to him are a part of the solution.  They’re the folks that start of as citizens, and work their tails off to ensure their government represents the citizens who give it power.

We’re in good hands–even if you disagree with me.  Even if you disagree with Glenn Beck on most everything–you’ve got to admit his 9/12 project’s principles and values are what’s needed in our homes, in our cities, and in our governments.

I’m working to bring these values to our government, and would encourage others to help.  If you’re intersested in helping please visit http://912candidates.org

boston-tea-party

For those of you who miss me posting things up here, I’m afraid it might be a while.  I’ve got a lot of things going on to get ready for April 15th.  Below is an excerpt from http://912candidates.org Visit the site to find out more!

__________________________

Let me give you all a quick look at what’s on the plate for this site (912Candidates.org):

  • Working with a co-author to produce a second version of the letter (something with a bit softer tone)
  • Working to fix the youtube video to conform with standard commercial lengths and generally better editing
  • Working with newspapers to publish articles about this part of the movement that’s afoot
  • Working to find someone to create a press-release for *free*
  • Working with various websites to coordinate and promote this site
  • Working with tea party organizers to have them pass out flyers at their Tax Day Tea Parties.

There’s still just me, and there’s a lot going on. I’m not complaining. I just wanted to give readers some sense of direction with where things are headed. But now it’s time for the good news.

How does 40 sound? In this case, it’s a good number. I’ve contact nearly every Tea Party organizer across the country and over 40 of them have responded and said “yes” to passing out flyers at their events. Some of the responses have been great!

  • Matthew wrote: I think what you are doing is great!
  • Hampton Roads Tea Party wrote: I’m sorry your senator is Mr.Dodd, but you are not alone, most of us around the country are not happy with ours either. The Capital has become a country club/retirement community. And its up to all of us to clean it up.
  • Amy wrote: I would love to help you. I am more than happy to distribute flyers at the event. Let me know when you have them ready.
  • Susan wrote: What a terrific idea. Let me coordinate with some people on this and get back to you….
  • Spencer wrote: I appreciate your efforts. Keep up the good work!
  • Jeanie wrote: You are an awsome soul and yes you are right on. Please send me all the information and instructions on exactly how to implement this new contract deal. I am very busy but I plan to follow suit in the same direction. I totally agree, 912 candidates would at least give us real choices that we could count on. Please send me your information and requests as soon as possible. I would like to share it with the other coordinators in New Mexico before the rally on the 15th. Thank you so much!!!!!!!!! God Bless You and God Bless America!
  • Ross wrote: I will read over your site and do what I can to support you. My wife and I homeschool our five small children (the oldest is 9) and are very active in our church and extended family. What you are doing sounds like the first step that NEEDS to be taken. We need to find good candidates and help get them elected through means other than money.

That’s not all the responses I’ve received, but it is a good sampling. There are other organizers who are so swamped they politely said they didn’t have the time–That’s OK. There’s really no requirement for the organizer to pass out flyers–anyone attending can do that!

If you plan on attending a tea-party print off a few of these flyers and pass them around. I’m sure none of the organizers will mind. There’s NO advertising on this site. I’m not asking for money. I’m not doing this for political or financial gain. Email your friends the flyer and everyone bring 12 of them to the tea party. This will not only bring printing costs down, but will be a great way to get involved. The flyer is set up to print double sided and get cut in half.

During my corrspondence with folks to try and get attention for this site I’ve used some of the following words, which may be of interest. If you’re composing an email to someone, writing a newspaper article, or preparing a blog post, please feel free to cut and paste below.

We now have the cruelest and most perverse form of representation. We have elected officials legally bound to represent their constituents without recognizing the values of their constituents. They believe they were elected based upon their agenda to serve the people, and while they have been pushing their agenda, we have seen the seeds of great harm in that agenda. Just like the Boston Tea Party money isn’t the problem, it’s an indication of the problem. These values don’t make a stand for or against “progressive government” but those in power now seem to treat our future earnings as their “petty cash fund.” I mean really, who’s ever heard of printing 1.2 trillion dollars in the middle of the week–just cus? Although it’s a gi-normous number it’s NOT necessarily the problem. It’s a symptom. It illustrates how far we’ve come from the basic values and principles that have helped make this country something worth dieing for.

The tea parties are great. They will get the media’s attention in a big way, but those memories will soon fade from the public unless they are followed by a movement. I think I’ve got a part of that movement in this project.

This is beyond political parties. This isn’t about bashing an administration. This project doesn’t stand against something… It stands FOR something. This is an invitation to commitment, to the people, and their representatives.

I’ve come to the sad conclusion that unless I get involved (though I may have sweated in far-off deserts) I may not be able to give my children the country I want them to have. Fighting for what’s right isn’t easy, but you can’t buy a clean conscience. You can only earn it..

We’re still at a stage where we need to let people know what’s going on. I still have to say things like “Spread the Word.” “Email your friends.” “Write your letters!” Post about this site in a forums like Glenn Beck’s The 9/12 project or The FOX Nation, as a comment to a newspaper article, or on any internet forum. I’ll do my best to work through my list of things to do, so it’ll make it easier for me to help you do these things. We’re off to a good start.

Value #12 is Gratitude: Thank you for visiting. I would like to offer this **digital bow of humility and kindness** for your reading this far.

Sincerely,

Jacob

9/11 National Fast Update

Posted by jacobroecker on 12 March 2009 under Projects | Be the First to Comment

Another 11th day of another month has gone by.  This week it is my duty to ask that you recruit 6 people to this group before the next time the calendar reads “11.”  There’s been a lot of news… too much to cover really.  I’d just like to focus a bit of your attention on one item the media has breezed past.  Today’s technology allows us to get first hand information.  You don’t have to take someone else’s word for it any more.  You can look it up yourself.

This month I would like you to take a look at the words of the 9/11 terrorists in GITMO.  I have quoted an excerpt here, and have further comment below.

Therefore, killing you and fighting you, destroying you and terrorizing you, responding back to your attacks, are all considered to be great legitimate duty in our religion. These actions are our offerings to God…..

national-fast-red-150Sometime last month I asked a talented artist to come up with the logo for the 9/11 national fast project.  My original logo was terrible.  So she came up with this one, and it’s only fitting that I add her logo to this blog.

If you’d like to add the 9/11 logo to your blog just use the code below.

Getting Sticky This Valentines

Posted by jacobroecker on 14 February 2009 under Projects, Technology | Be the First to Comment

Yeah, I know it’s a misleading title.  If you’re coming here because some search engine thinks that this is about sex, you’ve been lead to the wrong place.  This isn’t a post about sex, slutty women, or anything immoral.  Nude photos abound online, and I wont even bother to linking to any of them.  I’m happy to say, I don’t know where to find any!  Sorry to disappoint you.

What this is about is the timing of a rather interesting set of circumstances.  People have been making computer games for years.  So I don’t get to announce that “Pong” has finally arrived.  I will be writing about a game, but it’s not the first one to arrive.  It is the first one we’ve been able to play as a family–that is, everyone from 3 and up.

When we started playing video games they didn’t have any ratings.  Now they do I’ve found the rating descriptions rather comical.  It peaked my interest when watching the ‘trailer’ to see the ESRB rating.  It’s rated for “Everyone” with the description of “Comic Mischeif.”  I’m surprised this didn’t make the news.  After all there are people protesting games for too much skin, blood, violence and other indiscretion.  The Organization of Parents Against Comic Mischief (OPACM) seems to be quite silent with regards to this game.  It’s probably because they’re too busy playing it to blog about it, or the fact the group doesn’t exist.  I’ll let you decide.

So the game is based upon creating surrealistically engineered shapes out of these “goo” balls.  Sounds simple right?  But what if you had to make a tower to a pipe in a room that was rotating?  How about making a bridge?  How about making a long bridge and using balloons to keep the middle up?  How about building something with a hook?

One nice thing about this game is the people that have made it.  They give away the game’s soundtrack for free. I asked them if I could load it up on my Reprise Computers, and they said “yes.”  On top of all that about 80% of the computers where you find this game have pirated it.  Why?  Because despite the $20 price tag for the full version it’s been pirated because it doesn’t have any DRM software protection.  They actually expect people to be honest.

The linux community has been paying attention to this game because it’s one of the first good games written for the operating system.  Don’t do linux?  Not a problem.  This game is available for Mac, PC, & the Wii.  The Wii has the lowest price out of any of the games ($15).  If you’re unwilling to spend the $20 chill out.  Just visit the site and download the demo.  You’ll be hooked in the first chapter of the game.

Sorry there’s no smutty content here, but if you’re alone on Valentine’s Day, you might just want to spend your time getting a little gooey.

History Repeats Itself

Posted by jacobroecker on 13 February 2009 under Philosiphy, Projects | Be the First to Comment

History has repeated itself.  We’ve heard it before.  I didn’t want to believe it.  Why, because FoxNews, CNN, NPR, and everyone else didn’t cover this story at any time between September 11th 2009 and Now.

Technology is a good thing because it increases the transparency of what’s going on in the world, even if meetings happen behind closed doors.  The stimilus bill would be a lot different if this were 30 years ago and we didn’t have news agencies that could get a copy of it as it changes.  Thanks to their efforts the bill is a bit trimmer than it started of being.

Well, I’ve got some bad news about history repeating itself.  This is Representative Paul Kanjorski, a Democrat from PA.  In this video he describes the closed door session where the Treasury Secretary and the Chairman of the Federal Reserve.  We weren’t supposed to see this, but some organization is very well put together, and on the anniversary of September 11th started electronically withdrawing billions of dollars. The Rep will mention September 15th & Thursday on the video.  September 15th was a Monday.  If he’s right that it was a Thursday, than it would be the week prior, the 7th anniversary of the most horrific terrorist attacks on this soil in modern times.

Maybe this is why the president of Iran predicted that this economic crisis was the end of the American Empire.  I hope we prove him wrong in the same way we proved Japan wrong.  Yamamoto said after the attack on Pearl Harbor:  “I can run wild for six months … after that, I have no expectation of success.”  It will take us a while to get our footing again, maybe a generation, but the sooner we recognize what caused this problem, (the housing market, in conjunction with this withdrawl) we’ll be better able to prepare for it in the future.

Thanks to Pamela, who’s dedication to researching this has proved once again insightful.  The solution to this problem is going to be returning back to the values that have made this country great.  Including being charitable.  I’m going to start stepping up the effort for people to join the 9/11 National Fast group.  I think it’s the best way to “stick it to the bad guys” we’re going to prove that American’s stick together.

9/11 National Fast

n52312826155_2003Shortly after watching the September 11th terrorist attacks I had an idea.  I thought it was a good one.  I felt that cogress should pass a resolution encouraging Americans to participate in a national day of fastig each year on September 11th.  Those who chose to participate would then take the money they would have spent on food, or the cans of food themselves, and donate them to a charity of their choice.

It’s personal, it’s progressive, and I never even got a response from anyone in congress when I proposed the idea.  Go figure.

Those of you familiar with the LDS religion will note that this is very similar to practices at church…  Yeah, that’s where I got the idea.  Rumor also has it that a similar program was used to help Germany out of the Great Depression.

Humanity needs to move forward.  Our generation will build memorials for those who have fallen.  If we visit those sites we can teach are children the significance of those events.  To compliment all of that here’s an idea to memorialize those who have passed on, and to build a legacy that does something positive in the world.

I’ve created a group on facebook for this purpose and would encourage everyone who participates in social networking to join on that site.  If you don’t comment your commitment below.  Doing so will allow me to send you an email reminder as the date draws closer.  In any case, it’ll be 8 years come September.  Our American memory is short, and our sympathies desensatized.  Please join me to do something to move humanity forward.

Lost Conversations

So this isn’t another blog entry where I will try and wake up the world to the threat of inflation, terrorist ideologies, or anything else that matters.  No this post is entirely about me.  That’s enough reason to stop reading now, but if you’re really bored I could imagine that you might continue perusing a little further down the page.  You may want to read because dedicating an entire blog entry to “me” displays pride, and as we all know “pride goeth before the fall.”  So if you’re one of those sick people that’s reading to see me crash in a few days on another blog entry please continue on.  I’ll be happy to keep 50% of all the earnings from your bet (for or against).  Please send the checks made out to “cash” my current address.

In less than7 days I’ve made two local news outlets.  The first was Channel 7 KSWO in Lawton, and the second occurred today when the Lawton Constitution published an article on my “Reprise Computer Solutions” project.  The attention has been great for the project.  I also think it’ll help out the Lawton/Ft. Sill area in getting people to step up their game and help their neighbors.  We’ll have to see.

It’s customary when you make the news to tell your family members about it.  So when I told my sister-in-law, Lindsay had a rather interesting response.

L:  “You’ve been slacking”

J: “What do you mean?”

L: “You made The Herald Journal the first week you were in Logan.  You’ve been in Oklahoma for months and they’re just now paying attention to you.”

I laughed.  It was poetic, funny, and well-timed.  Lindsay gets some serious cool points for that one.  We chatted for a while online and discussed having her start the same project up in Logan.  If someone would do it, it’s sure to be a hit.

I’ve been loosing cool points all over the place these days.  This morning I lost cool points to the crock pot.

When Chrissy and I were first married I managed to volunteer to do the dishes.  She smiled, I got hosed.  Although she’s helped out now and again, it’s been my job for pretty much the past 8+ years.  Sometime last week we had dinner cooked in the crock pot.  I didn’t get to cleaning it right after it was done.  It took a couple of days.  Of course, after a couple of days, it stunk and it got cleaned.

This morning the crock pot was back in the sink defiantly pointing a finger at me and screaming!  “HA” it said.  “HA!”  “Less than 24 hours after you cleaned me, I’m dirty again!”  Oooohhhh it was an obnoxious conversation!  I was loosing.

Now in my degree we were taught about escalating and descalating conversations.  I’ve really wanted to escalate things.  I knew just how I was going to do it.  I was going to get the last word.  I was going to win.  I was going to get the sledge hammer.

You could imagine what would have happened if I followed through with the hammer.  I mean, really.  Whenever you do something violent there’s always someone in the background with a video camera.  Whatever you do is bound to end up on youtube.

I graduated cum laude from USU.  My professors would have read the blog and taken my degree back.  Then the Army would have to take away my commissioning, and Chrissy would have to work longer hours at the “pizza biz.”  That would mean more time away from the kids, and more babysitters.  The babysitters we’ve hired are already getting a bit worn out from our kids. . .   They’re high school students that need to be focussed on grades, not raising my children.

Ada, Mikkel, in the interest of your future, I left the sledge hammer in the garage, and walked away.

Generally when I want to win an argument with Chrissy I say,  ” I’m a speech communication graduate, don’t mess with me.”  The line doesn’t seem to be working on the dishes.  So, if any of you guys have any extra cool points please send them along.  I seem to be drastically short these days.
